Final Day of the reach out to Mormons

So this is it…. the final day of the reach out to Mormons at the British Pageant 2013.

Today saw a record number of papers being given out, and once more some people more people came to talk to us :-

Every person that I spoke to tonight this was at least the second time they had been to the pageant, so I think by now some people where getting a little bit tired of us being there! One person cried out the window “Your wasting your time mate!!” to which my reply was “preaching the gospel is not a waste of time”.

I again felt so sorry for some of these guys who had clearly not been told the truth regarding some things in there own teachings. The subject came up about the book of Abraham that is in the pearl of great price. They had no idea about the fact it had been proven to be falsely translated.

Lucy had a tract on this subject and was able to give it to the people asking the questions about it.

Right at the end we spoke to a Lady who said that we are in error because we don’t accept that today we have a priesthood. I showed her Hebrews 1:1-2, to which she said “your not using the Kings James Bible” – I showed the side of it, and then showed her the front – to which she then said “well…that bit must not have been translated right”……..”you young man need to read the book of Mormon”, I said “with all due respect why would I need to when God has already given me the answer in the bible?” She left pretty sharp after that!!

So that as they say is that……. its over!!

Thank you so much everyone for your prayers, for your support at the reach out, and thank you Chapel house Christian fellowship who every night have shown there support to reaching out to these people. And as much as it pains me to say Bobby Gilpin – your organisation and commitment to this reach out campaign has been brilliant. Thank you so much for organising this and getting on my nerves prior to this event to make sure it all ran smoothly. It has been a pleasure to work along side you as well as others.

Finally thank you Mormons for giving us the opportunity to come and talk to you, we have been here for the last 2 weeks because we love you. We want you to know the truth about Jesus, and we want you to know the truth about your prophets and tell you the stuff the leaders would rather you did not know.

Day 8 of the reach out to Mormons – Review

Day 8 saw another visit from 1 of the 12 LDS apostles. This meant again that an even larger number  of people came to pageant. In turn this meant more conversations :-

On Day 7 Pastor Ian Moulton from Chapel House Christian fellowship (Chorley) had a conversation with a young Mormon and asked the young Mormon what he thought of what Bruce McConkie teaches regarding Heavenly Father having intercourse with Mary? The young Mormon refused to accept what Ian had said was true. Ian said “I’ll come back tomorrow and show from your doctrine if you like?”. Ian said “if I do, will you think again about your beliefs?” The young Mormon did not answer the question but agreed to meet Ian tomorrow.

True to his word Ian came back and showed this young Mormon on page 547 of Mormon Doctrine that indeed Bruce McConkie said those words. Even though it was in black & white the young Mormon refused to accept that is what Bruce McConkie said. He then accused us of “tearing down his faith”. As Ian politely said “I am only showing you your own literature”.

Un-fortunately a lot of Mormons do not know a lot of there own teachings, they just go along with it because they feel its right (or should I say they know its right).

Truth will prevail! And for one more night this week will bring truth to the Mormons. Truth regarding who the true Jesus is.

John 8:32. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Day 7 of the reach out to Mormons – Review

Day 7 of the reach out to Mormons – Review

Day 7 saw more good discussions with the Mormons.

A lot of people have a lot of respect for the fact that we are trying to share truth with them.

We had a number of discussions as well that where a little bit more “heated” than previous nights, but still at all times being respectful. Lots more tracts where given out, and it was the evening where one of the 12 apostles of the LDS church came over from America to see the pageant. None of us met him, but from what I understand his health is very poor at the moment which is why he came late and left early.

Tonight a number of us had tickets for the show. I will be doing my own video of my review of the pageant next week. I was however able to meet with Stephen Kerr (president of the pageant) and I what I will say is that he seems like a really nice chap, and the production that he has put together was something very entertaining, the dancing, the singing and the acting all very good. The story/plot though a little misleading considering it was supposed to be a factual play ….more to come in the review video.

Day 6 of the reach out to Mormons – Review

Day 6 (Wednesday) of the reach out to Mormons – Review

Day 6 saw another amazing evening in reaching out to Mormons.
Lachlan came down again to join us and had some good chats…

    I managed to take on 4 missionaries at the same time…

Exodus 15:2 – The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation I my fathers God, and I will exalt him.

2 Mormons also agreed to be filmed…this is just a short snippet of the conversation.

But without question the most exciting news came early in the evening, when someone came over to say that they did not believe a lot of the Mormon doctrines. He said that he did not believe we are saved by works, but only through Jesus. He went on to say that Jesus is Lord! When he spoke about Jesus on the Cross he talked about “our lord” being on the cross.
Both Bazz and Pastor Ian Moulton where able to show him some scriptures that help confirm the things he already felt. He also said he was so pleased were there. Our lord is amazing!!

A few more of us have tickets for the pageant tonight, which I am really looking forward to. On a sad note this is Bazz’s last day. His personality and his presence will be missed.

Day 5 of the Mormon Reach out – Review

Day 5 of the Mormon Reach out

Yesterday was one of the best days we have had since being at the Mormon Reach out 2013. Captain Bobby Gilpin may have gone home, but the conversations with the Mormons have still been great. The missionaries stopped again to have chat..

Many others stopped to engage with us….

But the highlight was a young man who is desperate to get out of Mormonism. He said he had done his research into Joseph Smith and he could see that clearly Joseph Smith was not of God. He asked how he could leave Mormonism and follow Christ??!!! That was not something I expected or was ready for. We did not force anything on to him, but rather prayed over him that the real Jesus be revealed to him.

We also spoke to someone who is trapped in Mormonism. His family all are members but he disagrees with the teachings. I asked him if he had ever prayed direct to Jesus. He said “no” I asked if he knew Jesus? He said “not sure” – I said “how can you expect to know someone you have never directly spoken to?” I have given him my details and asked to contact me if I can be of any help. It is my hope and prayer that he prayers to Jesus, who is the hearer of prayer. (Psalm 65:2).

We are now getting ready for Day 6 of the reach out, thank-you all for your prayers and a massive thank you to all the people at Chapel House Christian Fellowship in Chorley for all their continued hospitality.

…And Finally, someone complained yesterday that we where only outside there temple, and why didn’t we go to the Kingdom Hall??? I thought that was a great idea, so I went their today as well 🙂
